குருவி கொடுத்த விதை The seed given by the sparrow
ஓர் ஊரில் பெரிய பண்ணையார் ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அந்த ஊரில் இருந்த பெரும்பாலான நிலங்கள் அவருக்குத் தான் சொந்தம்.
அவரிடம் முனியன் என்ற உழவன் வேலை பார்த்து வந்தான். அவனுக்குக் குடிசை ஒன்றும் சிறிதளவு நிலமும் இருந்தன.
பண்ணையாரிடம் வந்த அவன், ” ஐயா! எல்லா நிலத்திலும் உழுது விதை நட்டு விட்டார்கள். என் நிலம் மட்டும் தான் வெறுமனே உள்ளது. நீங்கள் சிறிது தானியம் தாருங்கள். என் நிலத்திலும் விதைத்து விடுகிறேன்” என்றான்.
” என் நிலத்திலேயே உழுது பயிரிடு. சொந்தமாகப் பயிரிட வேண்டாம். பண்ணையாராகும் ஆசையை விட்டு விடு. கூலியாளாகவே இரு. அரை வயிற்றுக் கஞ்சியாவது கிடைக்கும்” என்று கோபத்துடன் சொன்னார் அவர்.
சோகத்துடன் வீடு திரும்பினான் அவன். தன் மனைவியிடம், ” நாம் வளம் பெறுவது பண்ணையாருக்குப் பிடிக்கவிலலை. தானியம் தர மறுத்து விட்டார். நீயும் நம் குழந்தைகளும் எப்போதும் போலப் பட்டினி கிடக்க வேண்டியதுதான். இதுதான் நம் தலைவிதி” என்று வருத்தத்துடன் கூறினான்.
அவர்கள் குடிசையில் குருவி ஒன்று கூடு கட்டியது.
இதைப் பார்த்த அவன் மனைவி ” நம் குடிசை புயலுக்கும் மழைக்கும் எப்பொழுது விழுமோ என்று நாம் அஞ்சுகிறோம். இங்கு வந்து குருவி கூடு கட்டுகிறது பாருங்கள்” என்று கணவனிடம் சொன்னாள்.
” பாவம்! வாய் பேச முடியாத உயிர் அது. நிலைமை புரிந்தவுடன் அதுவே இங்கிருந்து போய்விடும். நாம் அதற்குத் தொல்லை செய்ய வேண்டாம்” என்றான் அவன்.
கூட்டில் அந்தக் குருவி நான்கு முட்டைகள் இட்டது. நான்கும் குஞ்சுகளாயின.
திடீரென்று அந்தக் குருவிக் கூட்டுக்குள் ஒரு பாம்பு நுழைந்தது. குருவிக் குஞ்சுகளைப் பிடித்துச் சாப்பிடத் தொடங்கியது. அவை அலறின.
அங்கு வந்த உழவன் பாம்பை அடித்துக் கொன்றான். அதற்குள் அது மூன்று குஞ்சுகளைத் தின்று விட்டது. தரையில் விழுந்த ஒரு குஞ்சு மட்டும் உயிரோடு இருந்தது.
அதை அன்போடு எடுத்தான் அவன். அதன் கால் உடைந்திருப்பதைக் கண்டு அதற்குக் கட்டுப் போட்டான். அதை மீண்டும் கூட்டில் வைத்தான். வேளா வேளைக்கு உணவு தந்தான்.
சில நாட்களில் அந்தக் குருவியின் கால்கள் சரியாயின. அங்கிருந்து அது பறந்து சென்றது. உழவனும் குடும்பத்தினரும் வறுமையில் வாடினார்கள்.
” இப்படியே அரை வயிறு சாப்பிட்டு எவ்வளவு காலம் வாழ்வது? நமக்கு விடிவே கிடையாதா?” என்றாள் மனைவி.
அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் வீட்டுக் கதவை யாரோ தட்டும் ஓசை கேட்டது. கதவை திறந்தான் அவன்.
அவன் வளர்த்த குருவி வெளியே இருந்தது. அதன் வாயில் ஒரு விதை இருந்தது. அதை அவன் கையில் வைத்தது. ” இதை உன் வீட்டுத் தோட்டத்தில் நடு. சிறிது நேரத்தில் வருகிறேன்” என்று சொல்லிவிட்டுப் பறந்தது அது.
மீண்டும் வந்தது அது. இன்னொரு விதையைத் தந்தது. ” இதை உன் வீட்டின் முன்புறத்தில் நடு” என்று சொல்லிவிட்டுப் பறந்தது.
மூன்றாம் முறையாக வந்த அது இன்னொரு விதையைத் தந்தது ” இதை சன்னல் ஓரம் நடு. என் மீது காட்டிய அன்பிற்கு நன்றி” என்று சொல்லிவிட்டுப் பறந்தது.
குருவி சொன்னபடியே மூன்று விதைகளையும் நட்டான் அவன்.
மறுநாள் காலையில் அங்கே மூன்று பெரிய பூசனிக் காய்கள் காய்த்து இருந்தன. இதைப் பார்த்து வியப்பு அடைந்தான் அவன்.
தோட்டத்தில் இருந்த பூசனிக் காயை வீட்டிற்குள் கொண்டு வந்தான். அதை இரண்டு துண்டாக வெட்டினான்.
என்ன வியப்பு! அதனுள் இருந்து விதவிதமான உணவுப் பொருள்கள் வந்தன. சுவையான அவற்றை எல்லோரும் மகிழ்ச்சியாக உண்டனர். மீண்டும் அந்தப் பூசனிக் காயை ஒன்று சேர்த்தனர். பழையபடி அது முழுப் பூசனிக் காய் ஆனது.
மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்த அவன், ” இது மந்திரப் பூசனிக் காய். நமக்கு உணவு தேவைப்படும் போது பிளந்தால் உணவு கிடைக்கும். மீண்டும் சேர்த்து விட்டால் பழையபடி ஆகி விடும். இனி நமக்கு உணவுப் பஞ்சமே இல்லை” என்றான்.
” வீட்டின் முன் புறத்தில் ஒரு பூசனிக் காய் உள்ளது. அதைக் கொண்டு வாருங்கள். அதற்குள் என்ன இருக்கிறது என்று பார்த்து விடலாம்” என்றாள் மனைவி.
அந்தப் பெரிய பூசனிக் காயை உருட்டிக் கொண்டு வந்தான் அவன். கத்தியால் அதை வெட்டினான். உள்ளிருந்து அழகான ஆடைகள், விலை உயர்ந்த மணிகள் கொட்டின.
சன்னலோரம் இருந்த மூன்றாவது பூசனிக் காயையும் கொண்டு வந்து வெட்டினான். அதற்குள் இருந்து பொற்காசுகள் கொட்டின.
அதன் பிறகு அவனும் மனைவியும் குழந்தைகளும் நல்ல உணவு உண்டனர். விலை உயர்ந்த ஆடைகளை அணிந்தனர். மிகப் பெரிய வீடு ஒன்றைக் கட்டத் தொடங்கினார்கள்.
உழவன் சில நாள்களில் பெருஞ்செல்வனானதை அறிந்தார் பண்ணையார்.
அவனிடம் வந்த அவர், ” டேய்! முனியா! உனக்கு எங்கிருந்து இவ்வளவு செல்வம் கிடைத்தது? உண்மையைச் சொல்” என்று கேட்டார்.
அவனும் நடந்ததை எல்லாம் அப்படியே சொன்னான்.
தன் மாளிகைக்கு வந்தார் அவர். எப்படியாவது மேலும் செல்வம் சேர்க்க வேண்டுமென்று நினைத்தார். வீட்டில் மேல் பகுதியில் குருவிக் கூடு ஒன்றை அவரே செய்தார். குருவிகள் அவரும் அதில் தங்கும் என்று எதிர்பார்த்தார்.
அவர் எண்ணம் ஈடேறியது. ஒரு குருவி வந்து அந்தக் கூட்டில் தங்கியது. நான்கு முட்டைகள் இட்டது. நான்கு குஞ்சுகள் வெளியே வந்தன.
” பாம்பு வரவே இல்லை. பொறுமை இழந்த அவர் ஒரு பெரிய கம்புடன் குருவிக் கூட்டை நெருங்கினார். மூன்று குஞ்சுகளை அடித்துக் கொன்றார். ஒன்றன் காலை உடைத்துக் கீழே எறிந்தார்.
பிறகு கால் உடைந்த குருவியிடம் அன்பு காட்டுவது போல் நடித்தார். வேளை தவறாமல் உணவு அளித்தார்.
கால் சரியான அந்தக் குருவி கூட்டைவிட்டுப் பறந்து போனது.
” மூன்று விதைகளுடன் குருவி மீண்டும் வரும். அரசனைவிட செல்வன் ஆவேன்” என்ற எண்ணத்தில் காத்திருந்தார் அவர்.
அவர் எதிர்பார்த்தபடியே கதவைத் தட்டியது குருவி. அவரிடம் மூன்று விதைகளைத் தந்தது. ” ஒன்றை வீட்டின் பின்புறம் நடு. இரண்டாவதை வீட்டின் முன்புறம் நடு. மூன்றாவதைக் கிணற்றோரம் நடு” என்று சொல்லி விட்டுப் பறந்து சென்றது.
எண்ணம் நிறைவேறியது என்று மகிழ்ந்தார் அவர். மூன்று தானியங்களையும் நட்டார்.
மறுநாளே மூன்று பெரிய பூசனிக் காய்கள் காய்த்து இருந்தன.
தோட்டத்தில் இருந்த பூசனிக் காயை வீட்டுக்குள் கொண்டு வந்தார். அதை வெட்டினார்.
அதற்குள் இருந்து எண்ணற்ற பூச்சிகள் வெளிவந்தன. அவர் வயலில் விளைந்திருந்த பயிர்களை எல்லாம் ஒரு நொடிக்குள் தின்றுவிட்டு மறைந்தன.
வாயிலும் வயிற்றிலும் அடித்துக் கொண்டார் அவர். முன்புறத்தில் இருந்த இரண்டாவது பூசனிக்காயை வெட்டினார்.
அதற்குள் இருந்து தீ வெளிப்பட்டது அது அவரையும் அந்த மாளிகையையும் ஒருநொடிக்குள் சாம்பல் ஆக்கியது.
கொடிய பண்ணையார் ஒழிந்தார் என்று ஊர் மக்கள் மகிழ்ந்தனர்.
மூன்றாவது பூசனிக்காயை உடைக்க யாருமே முன்வரவில்லை. அதற்குள் பாம்பு, தேள், பூரான் போன்ற எண்ணற்றவை இருப்பதாகப் பேசிக் கொண்டார்கள்.

There was a big farmer in a town. He owns most of the land in that town.
Munian, a ploughman, used to work for him. He had a cottage and some land.
He came to the farmer and said, “Sir! They plowed all the land and planted seeds. My land is simply there. You give me some grain. I will sow it in my land too” he said.
” Plow and cultivate in my own land. Don’t grow your own. Give up the desire to be a farmer. Be mercenary. He said angrily that he would get at least half a stomach of porridge.
He returned home sad. To his wife, “The farmer doesn’t like us getting rich. He refused to give grain. You and our children must starve as always. This is our destiny,” he said sadly.
A sparrow built a nest in their hut.
Seeing this, his wife said, “We are afraid that when our hut will fall to storm and rain. Come here and see the sparrow building its nest,” she said to her husband.
” Pity! It is a life that cannot speak. Once the situation is understood, it will go away from here. “Let’s not disturb it,” he said.
The sparrow laid four eggs in the nest. All four became chicks.
Suddenly a snake entered the sparrow’s nest. The sparrows began to catch and eat the chicks. They screamed.
The ploughman, who came there, beat the snake to death. By then it had eaten three chicks. Only one chick, which fell to the ground, was alive.
He took it with love. Seeing that its leg was broken, he bandaged it. He put it back in the nest. He gave food to Vela. In a few days, the sparrow’s legs were fine. From there it flew away. The farmer and his family lived in poverty.
” How long can you live on half a stomach like this? Can’t we get a break?” said the wife.
Then they heard someone knocking on their door. He opened the door. The sparrow he raised was outside. In its mouth was a seed. He placed it in his hand. ” Plant this in your garden. “I will come in a little while” and flew away.
It came back. Produced another seed. “Put this in front of your house” and flew away.
It came the third time and produced another seed.” Thank you for the love shown to me” and flew away.
He planted the three seeds as the sparrow told him. The next morning there were three large pumpkins ripe. He was surprised to see this.
He brought the pumpkin from the garden into the house. He cut it into two pieces.What a surprise! Various food items came out of it. They were delicious and everyone ate them happily. Again they put the pumpkin together. As of old it became a whole pumpkin.
He was happy and said, “This is the magic potion. When we need food, we get food if we divide. If you add it again, it will become old. We don’t have food shortages any more,” he said.
” There is a pumpkin patch in the front yard of the house. Bring it on. “Let’s see what’s inside,” said the wife.
He rolled the big pumpkin. He cut it with a knife. Beautiful clothes and expensive beads poured out from inside.
He also brought and cut the third pusnik tree that was in the sun. Gold coins poured out of it.
After that he and his wife and children had a good meal. They wore expensive clothes. They started building a very big house.
The farmer came to know that the plowman had turned into a giant in a few days.
He came to him and said, “Hey! Munya! Where did you get so much wealth? “Tell me the truth,” he asked.
He also told everything that happened.
He came to his house. He wanted to somehow add more wealth. He himself made a sparrow’s nest at the top of the house. The sparrows expected him to stay in it too.
He thought. A sparrow came and stayed in the nest. Four eggs were laid. Four chicks came out.
” The snake never came. Losing patience, he approached the sparrow’s nest with a large stick. He beat three chicks to death. He broke the leg of one and threw it down.
Then he pretended to show love to a sparrow with a broken leg. He provided food regularly.
The sparrow with perfect legs flew away from the nest.
” The sparrow returns with three seeds. He waited with the thought that I will become wealthier than the king.
As he expected, the sparrow knocked on the door. gave him three seeds. ” One in the middle of the back of the house. The second is in the middle of the front of the house. “The third one is in the middle of the well” and flew away.
He was happy that the intention was fulfilled. He also planted three grains. The next day three large pods were ripe. He brought the pumpkin from the garden into the house. He cut it.
Innumerable insects came out of it. All the crops grown in his field were eaten within a second and disappeared. He punched him in the mouth and stomach. Cut the second pumpkin in the foreground.
A fire erupted from within which reduced him and the mansion to ashes in a second. The villagers rejoiced that the deadly farmer was gone.
No one came forward to crack the third pumpkin. They said that there are innumerable snakes, scorpions, and scorpions within it.
